Yuki, the gentle snowman

Here is the pattern of Yuki, an adorable snowman.

MATERIALS:

● 100% Cotton yarn  in a color of your choice for the skin (A color), in a color of your choice for gloves and scarf (B color), off-white color, black color (hat, boots, eyes), pink color (cheeks), and traces of orange and light grey color (or embroidery thread) to embroider the nose and details.

● Crochet hook according to the thickness of the yarn used. In this pattern used a 2,5 mm crochet hook.

● Toy stuffing.

● Yarn needle.

● Scissors, sewing pins and stitch markers.

ABBREVIATIONS:

● Mr – Magic ring   

● Sc – Single crochet      

● Ch – Chain   

● St / sts – Stitch / stitches      

● Sl st – Slip stitch

● Hdc – Half double crochet

● BS – Bobble stitch

● OBL – Only back loop (crochet inserting the hook only by the back loop of the chain)

● OFL – Only front loop (crochet inserting the hook only by the front loop of the chain)       

● Inc – Single crochet increase (2sc in one st)          

● Inv dec – Invisible single crochet decrease (2sc together, front loops only)               

● Rnd – Round     

● [nº] – The number inside the brackets is the total stitches of the round. Ex: [12] means that in total, at the end of the round, there must be 12 stitches

● (…) xN – Repeat the instructions between the brackets N times. Ex: (1sc, 1inv st) x6, means that we should weave 1sc, 1inv dec 6 times

Close off*

(*in order to close off, pass the needle through each stitch, only grabbing the front loop, from the outside towards the inside, making your way completely around. Pull hard and fasten off).

*Use the images as a guide:

– Embroider the nose (with orange yarn), with a rococo st, centered between rounds 13 and 16.

– Embroider the eyes (with black yarn), with a straight stitch, between the rounds 13 and 16 with 10 stitches apart.

HOOD:

With off-white yarn

Put the head in the hood and continue crocheting (take care that the face is well centered).

Make a sl st and fasten off (optional: you can give some stitches around the hood to fix it to the head).

Make a sl st and fasten off leaving a long tail to sew it onto the head.

ARMS (x2):

With B color yarn

Rnd1: 5 sc in a mr [5]

Rnd2: 5 inc [10]

Rnd3: 10 sc 

Rnd4: 1 BS, 9 sc [10]

Rnd5-6: 10 sc

Change to off-white yarn

Rnd7-17: 10 sc (11 rounds)

Make a sl st and fasten off leaving a long tail to sew it onto the body.

Stuff only the part of the glove.

LEGS (x2):

Start with black yarn

Rnd1: 5 sc in a mr [5]

Rnd2: 5 inc [10]

Rnd3: (1 sc, 1 inc) x5 [15]

Rnd4: 15 sc OBL

Rnd5: 15 sc

Rnd6: 5 inv dec, 5 sc [10]

Rnd7-9: 10 sc (3 rounds)

Change to off white yarn

Rnd10: 10 sc

Stuff only the boots. 

Rnd11-14: 10 sc (4 rounds)

Make a sl st and fasten off leaving a long tail to sew it onto the body.

SCARF:

With B color 

Make 59 ch and start crocheting on the 2d ch from the hook:

1 sl st, 1 sc, 54 hdc, 1 sc, 1 sl st [58]

Fasten off and weave in ends.

CHEEKS (X2):

Rnd 1: 6sc in a mr

Join with a sl st and fasten off leaving a long tail to sew it onto the face.

ASSEMBLY:

*Use the images as a guide. Use pins to hold the pieces before sewing.

1- Sew the cheeks to the face.

2- Stuff the body and sew it to the head (before finishing sewing make sure it has enough stuffing).

3- Embroider some lines on the body with light gray yarn.

4- Sew the arms to the sides of the body.

5- Sew the legs to the body, between rounds 5 and 7 (approx with 11 stitches apart).

6- Sew the hat to the head.

7- Put the scarf around the neck and make some stitches to hold.
